The “TC Fee” Debate

There is some hot debate in agent circles on whether or not to pass the “TC Fee” onto clients as part of their closing fees.

The answer is largely a matter of what is standard practice in your region.

Either way, having a transaction coordinator on your team is a benefit both to you as an agent and to your client—everyone benefits from another set of eyes on what is usually the most important transaction of someone’s life.

If you’re on the fence, it’s all about positioning and transparency: you can add it to the closing costs and let your clients know that they’re paying for peace of mind, or absorb it into your commission as an “I’m happy to take care of this for you” client benefit.
